THE CELLAR · WHISKY
Nikka From The Barrel
฿9,900 bottle · ฿800 glass

From The Barrel is Nikka's blended whisky at full strength: malt and grain whiskies blended, then returned to cask to marry before bottling at 51.4%. It comes in a small, square 500ml bottle.
Japan — Nikka, the house founded by Masataka Taketsuru, the father of Japanese whisky.
Blended whisky: malt and grain.
51.4% ABV, 500ml.
How it is made
Nikka blends malt whisky, much of it from its Yoichi and Miyagikyo distilleries, with grain whisky made in Coffey stills. After blending, the whisky goes back into cask for a further marriage, so the parts settle into one before it is bottled at a high strength.
How it tastes
Vanilla and toffee, dried fruit and orange peel, with clove and pepper at the edges. Full and round for a blend, with a long, warm, oaky finish.
Good to know
Neat, over one large piece of ice, or with a few drops of water: at this strength all three work.
